About Me

More!

Sio Lyons is the author of Brackish Baby, a novel-in-progress exploring infertility, child loss, and grief. Her writing appears in Infertilities: A Curation (Wayne State University Press, 2023). Originally from Stillwater, PA, she now lives in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, where she is an Associate Professor of English at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI). A graduate of UVI, Sio holds degrees in Creative Leadership, Creative Writing, and Curriculum & Instruction, along with a certificate in Creative Problem Solving from Buffalo State University.

Beyond academia, her career has been richly varied—she has taught creative writing in a county jail and a halfway house for mothers in recovery, worked as a CNA at a retirement home for nuns, delivered paint across Philadelphia in a long van, and waited tables at a truck stop off Route 80.

Her work has been supported by grants and scholarships from the International Association of Maternal Action and Scholarship (IAMAS), Corporeal Writing, Writing by Writers, and the Musehouse: A Center for the Literary Arts. She takes pride in receiving encouraging rejections from the likes of The Missouri Review, Callaloo, HAD, and Write or Die.
